I listed this car on December 18 and ebay just cancelled the auction because they said that the car has a salvage title! I have a clean title in hand but I had to put "other" in the listing so it won't be cancelled. So I am listing the car again. I have attached a copy of the vehicle history below, I don't understand how Autocheck says that the car had a salvage title and then a couple of weeks later it has a clean title? I think that there is a mistake here, regardless I have a clean title in hand for this car. Below are the historical events for this vehicle listed in chronological order. Any discrepancies will be in bold text. TITLE You are bidding on a rare 1994 Porsche 968 Cabriolet 6 speed, most of these cars came with the tiptronic transmission. This particular car needs a little attention, I purchased this car at an insurance auction as a rejected repair with a clean title. What this means is that the car was involved in an accident, repaired by the insurance company and then after being repaired was rejected by the owner. I have no previous history on the car, but after studying the car closely here is what I found wrong with the car: 1- The car appears to have been hit on the left front, necessitating replacement of the driver’s side fender and headlight assembly, although the fender was replaced it appears as if the inner structure was not damaged or repaired. 2- There is no impact damage to the rear of the car, but it looks like the plastic rear bumper may have been repaired. 3- Whoever did the repair finished the job with a mediocre paint job, I would rate it a 5 out of 10. 4- After being repaired it appears as if the car sat for a while. 5- The A/C does not work; the mechanic says it needs to be charged. When I purchased the car from the insurance company it wasn’t running, so I sent the car to my Porsche mechanic to diagnose its problems and give me an idea of its overall condition. To my dismay what he found was that the car had a bad fuel pump (from sitting) and although the timing belt was replaced recently whoever did it put the cam belt rollers on backwards (this is what makes 924/944/968’s with improperly installed timing belts sound like sewing machines). I decided to go ahead and have everything fixed, $1300 later (gulp!) I was ready to pick up the car. As I was looking the car over at the shop I noticed that the rear window stitching had started to come apart, when I pressed on the corner of the window the window gave way. I don’t know if you can replace the window alone or if you can sew it back together, what caused the window to fail was rotten thread in the stitching. Even though the top does have a couple of cigarette burns (pictured) I did not expect to replace the top, but now with the problem with the rear window, I would just rather get rid of the car. What does this car need now? Well for starters I would dye the front seats, replace the top ($640 from gahhinc.com, original material), charge the a/c system (should be easy its 134A) and either wet sand and buff the paint or just repaint the car. But why bother? Well an average 968 cab is still worth somewhere in the high teens or low twenties, I have no reserve on this car, even though I suspect the car will sell for close to $9,000 I still think you can buy this car and fix it for under $11,000. At that number you are in the car for far less than what it’s worth and with a new paint job and top to boot. I want to sell the car for a number of reasons: 1- I lost interest because of the F----N! rear window. 2- I don’t need 11 Porsches. 3- I am still trying to recover from the ridiculous amount of money I spent repairing my ’01 Diablo. Although I want to sell the car, I definitely don’t want any headaches from a flakey bidder, this car needs work. I have made sure that the car is roadworthy but it still needs cosmetic help. I don’t want to mislead you and I don’t want any unhappy buyers either. Check my feedback, I have sold many Porsches, Lamborghinis, Ferraris, etc with no problems and that means a lot to me. Bid on the car as long as you understand that it is a fixer upper, nothing complicated, everything can be fixed by a do it yourselfer. Vehicle Condition I encourage you to view the car before bidding, please e-mail for viewing instructions or to answer any questions you may have. Remember you are bidding on a 10 year old car, you can not hold this car to new car standards, of course the car has some scratches, dings or other imperfections it would be unreasonable to expect otherwise from a car that has been on the road for 10 years! Also beware that the best way evaluate the condition of this car is in person or by a third party mechanic or inspector, remember your going to be spending a lot of money based on pictures. Although I have tried to describe the car as accurately as possible, its always best to see it in person, if that’s not possible ask as many questions as you want and if you need better pictures of a certain area or part of the car let me know and I will be glad to send them to you. I have been selling highline cars on eBay for years now with no problems and I don’t want to have any know from this 968! If you have any doubts or any unanswered questions then don’t bid! If you have bid and change your mind about the car or are unhappy with my description and or answers to your questions, no hard feelings, just let me know before the end of the auction and I will cancel your bid. But remember once you win the auction it’s yours, therefore ask questions and if you can come and see the car before you bid! Terms of Sale This is a very serious matter, remember by bidding on this item you are entering into a legally binding contract which will be construed under the laws of the state of Florida and if you fail to perform your obligations to purchase if you are the winning bidder you will be subject to a lawsuit for specific performance and damages. Remember 20% deposit within three days from the end of the auction and the balance within five days from the end of auction. No exceptions!!! I will not end the auction early, so don’t ask!! Optional: MANUAL LEATHER AIR CONDITIONING CD POWER DOOR LOCKS I drove the car 48 miles today. A lot of people have been asking me if the car is reliable and if it would be able to drive cross country. I think it would run fine; here is a rundown on the cars mechanical condition: 1- Engine runs strong and smooth, motor mounts must be recent since the car does not vibrate at idle. I would compare the performance of this car to a non “S” 944 turbo, but without the lag. I had the timing belt rollers and tensioner replaced, the belt looked too good to replace. The engine runs fine and the transmission shifts well. I also replaced the battery with a new Interstate battery. 2- Brakes and suspension are fine; the car does need an alignment and a set of tires. Since it doesn’t look like the car will be picked up until after the holidays I will replace the tires with a good set (not new) and get the car aligned. Otherwise the car runs great on the highway as well as around the city. 3- The cruise control works fine. I have had Porsches in mint condition that had non functioning cruise control, this one works. 4- I can not open the trunk, I have no idea what’s wrong with it, but the rear seats do recline so you can see into the trunk. 5- The radio doesn’t work; it looks like the amp that was mounted in the trunk is missing. 6- The A/C DOES NOT WORK. I charged the A/C and it worked fine for two days, I think the condenser has a leak. The only criticism I have is the paint, in my opinion it’s awful. I tried to show the flaws in the photos, I don’t want any surprises and I know you don’t either. The hood release is broken, but still works. If you repaint this car, replace the top, and clean the interior you will have a decent car. Also in case there is any confusion, the car has a CLEAN TITLE!!! If you have any questions please ASK!
